The responsibility for a donation lies both with organizations that request funds, products, time, and involvement and with the individuals who donate. To avoid fictitious addresses and the waste of resources, guests on the “Consens National” show on Rlive TV advocated for well-targeted assistance.
Otilia Sarbu, the founder of the Association for Education, Development, and Aid Moldova, appreciated that more people are making donations today. She also advised donors to choose organizations that run charity programs and have an established history in philanthropy.
“It is important to go to organizations we know because they have donation accounting, which is crucial, and the social cases they present are documented. The donor will be assured that their donation reaches someone who genuinely needs help,” added Otilia Sarbu.

Anna Ceban, communication adviser for the “Diaconia” Social Mission, mentioned that an organization assisting dozens of people daily ensures that donations reach those expecting them. She noted that a plush toy might not always help a family needing psychological or legal assistance. To support as many people as possible, the Mission has transformed the traditional memorial meal into a charitable action.
“We encourage our donors to dedicate a memorial meal day for the beneficiaries of the social canteen. This supports 160 individuals, mainly older people living alone, who come for a hot meal. We’re pleased that honoring this tradition brings us closer to more donors choosing this method for their memorial meals,” said Anna Ceban.
Moldova is currently observing the National Week of Kindness. During this time, non-governmental organizations within the Philanthropy Promotion and Development Platform conduct activities to raise awareness about philanthropy and to encourage society and authorities to address social issues in the country.
