Prime Minister Dorin Recean invited the farmers to the Government on Tuesday. The head of the Cabinet of Ministers notes that the Executive members are closely monitoring the situation in the agricultural sector.
Recean assures that the authorities understand the difficulties farmers are facing. Additionally, according to the Prime Minister, the Ministry of Agriculture is collecting and verifying information regarding the effects of the drought.
“Just like in previous years, the Government is assisting farmers and implementing support measures to partially compensate for losses. In the budget revision of July 2024, we allocated an additional 100 million lei to the subsidy fund. On Tuesday, I will invite representatives from the agricultural sector for discussions.

Farmers have sent a letter to the President, seeking intervention from the Presidency to address their concerns. They have raised issues related to extreme weather conditions insufficient funding and have called for the approval of the Agricultural Credit Law. They have also warned that they will hold protests if authorities will not meet their demands.
