Foreign Minister Mihai Popsoi to Strengthen Ties with Kazakhstan During Official Visit

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Mihai Popsoi will pay an official visit to the Republic of Kazakhstan from 1 to 3 July at the invitation of his Kazakh counterpart, Murat Nurtleu. The visit aims to strengthen political dialogue and expand bilateral cooperation in trade, economy, and investment, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced.

In Astana, Popsoi will meet with President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and with Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Murat Nurtleu. A key highlight of the visit will be the official inauguration of the Embassy of the Republic of Moldova in Astana—a major step in boosting Moldova’s diplomatic presence in Central Asia. Both foreign ministers will attend the event. The Moldovan Government approved the Embassy’s establishment on 28 August 2024, following a proposal by Popsoi.

On 3 July, the Moldovan Foreign Minister will travel to Almaty, where he will meet with Mayor Darhan Satybaldy and visit a Moldovan capital enterprise. He will also hold a meeting with members of the Moldovan community living in Kazakhstan.
