Forest fires in Turkey and Greece: Moldovan Foreign Ministry issues a warning

The Moldovan Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) urges citizens planning a trip to Turkey or Greece to be careful due to the heat wave, which may cause fires to break out in forests.

Turkey has registered 44 fires, with 30 in rural areas and 14 in forest zones. The very high temperatures during this period increase the risk of fires.

In this context, the Foreign Ministry recommends Moldovan citizens to follow the official warnings and mass media before planning a trip, to inform the consular institutions about the presence in the risk zones, as well as to make sure that travelers have the necessary amount of fuel, water, and food. Authorities advise citizens to keep their cell phone communications in working order.
