The Chisinau Court of Appeal Centre upheld the conviction of the heads of the Donduseni and Falesti territorial offices of the former Shor Party, confirming four-year prison sentences for accepting party financing from an organized criminal group.

The court delivered the ruling on March 24 after rejecting the appeal filed by the defendants’ lawyers as unfounded, thus maintaining the sentence issued earlier by the Chisinau Court on September 25, 2025.

According to the investigation conducted by the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office, in cooperation with the National Anticorruption Center and the Security and Intelligence Service, the two individuals accepted more than 2.5 million lei between July and October 2022. Authorities say the funds came from an organized criminal group and were used to pay participants in protests organized by the party and to cover undeclared salaries of territorial office members.

In addition to prison sentences, the court banned both individuals from participating in political parties and from carrying out financial or accounting activities within parties for four years.

In the case of the Donduseni office head, the court ordered the confiscation of over 1.5 million lei, and authorities took him into custody directly from the courtroom. The head of the Falesti office, for whom confiscation of 1 million lei was ordered, has been declared wanted.

The decision can be appealed to the Supreme Court of Justice of Moldova within two months.
