France will support the Republic of Moldova in boosting energy efficiency across 16 universities and 14 hospitals by funding upgrades and modernizations. This initiative is part of the ISPIDREE project (Initiative for Sustainable Public Infrastructure Development through Renovations for Energy Efficiency), which Prime Minister Dorin Recean discussed with the AFD Director Remy Rioux.
The Paris-based agency promised to continue supporting Moldovan authorities in reforming key sectors and advancing the European integration agenda. During the meeting, the head of government praised the AFD’s support and the agency’s alignment with the priorities set by the Cabinet, highlighting strategic projects, including ISPIDREE.
Approximately 200,000 citizens will benefit from the project’s outcomes, and annual financial savings can reach two million euros. Dorin Recean also highlighted the importance of working together on microfinance initiatives to support local businesses and emphasized efforts to encourage French investment in Moldova’s banking and financial services industry.

“We want businesspeople to know that the Republic of Moldova offers many opportunities and is a safe destination for investment,” the Prime Minister stated.
According to the government’s press service, officials discussed the AFD’s support in the rail transport sector, water and sewage supply, irrigation, and reforestation. The AFD’s Director General also expressed the agency’s openness to strengthening cooperation on justice reform, rule of law consolidation, and boosting the capacity of public institutions.
