Transnistria’s agricultural sector has suffered significant damage due to recent frosts, particularly in the north. According to the local administration, the apricot crop has been entirely wiped out, while cherries, apples, pears, and peaches have also been severely affected. IPN reports that losses to perennial crops are substantial, though damage to winter crops is currently deemed non-critical.
Igor Palamarchuc, head of the region’s de facto Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources, stated that 245 out of 1,899 hectares of perennial fruit trees have been destroyed, with another 439 hectares partially damaged. Cherry orchards were hit especially hard, with 60–70% of the crop lost.
Transnistrian Chief Executive Aleksandr Rosenberg emphasized that addressing the damage requires more than repair efforts. He called for replanting and treatment of affected areas, noting that a dedicated meeting will soon be held in Tiraspol to address the issue.

Winter crops were less severely impacted, with damage reported on 1,137 hectares of wheat, 1,265 hectares of rapeseed, and more than 800 hectares of barley. Palamarchuc said the situation remains under control and that the sowing campaign is ongoing, with over 80% of planned areas already planted.
