Moldovagaz has resumed the supply of natural gas to the Transnistrian region, yet uncertainty persists, company head Vadim Ceban said. According to TVR Moldova, the region now receives up to 3 million cubic meters of natural gas per day.

This volume ensures the restoration of hot water supply and the start of the heating season. Still, Ceban emphasized that the situation remains unclear.

“The issue concerns payment for the second half of October. Tiraspoltransgaz must also pay for winter reserves — we are waiting for these payments. After that, payments for November and December will follow. We’ll see what happens next. The first tranche was paid yesterday, and we hope the process continues next week,” Ceban stated.

He explained that Moldovagaz delivers gas based on the consumption plan submitted by Tiraspoltransgaz, with volumes varying daily. The supply depends on Tiraspol’s payment schedule; if no arrears occur, deliveries will likely continue without interruption.

Earlier in October, the separatist administration in Tiraspol introduced gas-saving measures, signaling the risk of another energy crisis. Chișinău has not ruled out a repeat of the January 2025 situation and announced its readiness to provide assistance if Tiraspol requests help.

At the beginning of this year, residents on the left bank of the Dniester went without gas for almost a month and faced rolling blackouts after Gazprom halted deliveries, citing the expiration of the gas transit contract through Ukraine.

The European Union intervened with emergency aid for two weeks and indicated its willingness to extend support. In return, EU officials expected the separatist authorities to gradually align energy prices with market levels. However, Tiraspol’s leaders rejected the proposal and currently purchase gas from a company registered in Hungary, with payments processed through a firm based in Dubai.
