The European Commission has authorized the installation of advanced scanners at EU airports that will let passengers carry liquid containers exceeding 100 milliliters in their carry-on baggage, reports Agerpres. Additionally, travelers will no longer need to remove electronic devices during security checks.
Currently, European airport security requires passengers to empty or discard liquids over 100 ml, with exceptions for medication and baby food. This measure, introduced in 2006 to counter terrorist threats, will be replaced by new scanners capable of quickly detecting explosives or suspicious liquids using high-resolution imaging, according to BANI.MD.
However, not all airports have the latest scanners. To ensure uniformity and avoid inconvenience to passengers, European authorities plan to adopt standardized security measures and rules across all airports.
