“Again, for no reason, Russia is hitting the Republic of Moldova economically. This time, it is blocking Moldovan carriers.” This is how the Government commented on the Russian Federation’s decision to restrict the entry of Moldovan carriers into its territory. According to the Government, Russia does not respect its commitments and continues to use trade relations as instruments of political pressure, which are contrary to the public statements of sympathy for the people of the Republic of Moldova, the IPN reports.
The executive noted that Russia’s decision means that Moldovan companies are prohibited from delivering goods to Russia, and carriers are blocked in customs posts.
“This decision is unilateral, hits Moldovan carriers and shows Russia’s clear negative attitude aimed at harming the Moldovan economy. The Russian side’ decision comes after a period during which the Russian side constantly refused to participate in technical talks or comply with previous agreements,” says a press release.

The Government of Moldova also said that Russia’s decision affects 115 carriers that hold authorizations, and also affects exporters that signed contracts with carriers.
“In order to increase and diversify exports, the Republic of Moldova intensified cooperation with other markets and strengthened alternative routes through the European Union, the Caucasus and Central Asia so that our companies do not depend on arbitrary political decisions. An example is the agreement on the liberalization of road freight transport with the EU, in force since June 2022, with access to a predictable market,” runs the press release.
