Former Prime Minister of the Republic of Moldova Dorin Recean received one of Ukraine’s highest state distinctions, the Order of Prince Yaroslav the Wise, First Class. The ceremony took place today at the Embassy of Ukraine in Chisinau, where Ambassador Paun Rohovei presented the award on behalf of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and the Ukrainian people.

According to the diplomatic mission, Presidential Decree No. 617 of August 23, 2025 granted the order in recognition of Dorin Recean’s significant personal contribution to strengthening the partnership between the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine. Ukrainian diplomats emphasized his consistent and principled support for Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as his active involvement in charitable projects and in promoting the Ukrainian state internationally.

“Ukraine greatly appreciates Moldova’s constant solidarity during the most difficult moments,” the Embassy stated, noting that the distinction also symbolizes the Ukrainian people’s gratitude for the support offered by Moldovan partners.

The Order of Prince Yaroslav the Wise ranks among Ukraine’s highest honors. Ukraine previously awarded the same distinction to the President of the Republic of Moldova, Maia Sandu, and to the Speaker of Parliament, Igor Grosu.

Dorin Recean served as Prime Minister of the Republic of Moldova from 2023 to 2025.
