The Socialist Party delegation arrived for consultations with President Maia Sandu on Thursday. Igor Dodon attended the meeting together with Zinaida Greceanii and Vlad Batrincea.

Dodon kept his remarks brief, stating only that the Socialists were participating in the consultations in accordance with the Constitution of the Republic of Moldova.

“We are here as the parliamentary opposition. We are statesmen. Taking into account institutional cooperation, as stipulated by the Constitution of the Republic of Moldova, we accepted the invitation and came to the consultations. We will make further statements afterward,” Dodon said before the meeting.

Throughout the day, President Maia Sandu held consultations with parliamentary opposition parties. Representatives of ‘Democratia Acasa,’ ‘Our Party,’ the ‘Alternativa’ bloc, and the Party of Socialists attended the discussions, while the Communist Party declined the invitation.

The talks focused on nominating a candidate for prime minister and forming the next cabinet of ministers.
