Former Chief of General Staff of the National Army Igor Gorgan is under investigation on charges of high treason. The Prosecutor’s Office for Combating Organized Crime and Special Cases (POCSO) has opened a criminal case.
“Any actions committed against the interests of the Republic of Moldova, to the detriment of sovereignty, territorial inviolability, and state security, are thoroughly and comprehensively investigated by prosecutors through the application of tactical methods oriented towards investigation in all aspects, full and objective disclosure of the circumstances of the case and establishment of the truth.
The fact of the alleged subversive actions expressed in the transfer of data related to the national defense system to a foreign State and its representatives constitutes the subject of the criminal case.
At the moment, investigative actions are being carried out to identify all the persons involved in the criminal act, to establish the nature and content of the allegedly transmitted information, and to assess its impact on Moldova’s interests,” the POCSO said in a press release.
