Moldovan Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu has condemned Russia’s attacks on Ukraine and called for their immediate cessation after a drone exploded near the village of Hîrbovăț in Anenii Noi district on Wednesday morning, September 30.
“This morning, our airspace was illegally violated once again by a drone as a result of Russian attacks on Ukraine. According to official data, the object flew over Tighina and exploded upon impact with the ground near the village of Hîrbovăț, Anenii Noi district,” Igor Grosu said.
The Parliament Speaker said there were no reported casualties and that the area had been secured.
“Fortunately, no casualties have been reported, and the area has been isolated. All state services are at the scene and are examining the incident. We strongly condemn Russia’s attacks on Ukraine and call for their immediate cessation and a just peace for Ukraine. Russia must and will be held accountable for its war crimes,” Grosu added.
The Parliament Speaker also urged citizens to follow official safety instructions in the event of drone activity or explosions.
“Dear citizens, if you hear the specific sounds of drones or explosions nearby and feel that there is an immediate risk, call 112 and take shelter in a safe place, inside your home, and follow only the information provided by the authorities,” Grosu said.
According to Moldova’s Ministry of Defence, the drone was detected flying through Moldovan airspace at around 5:43 a.m. on Wednesday. It subsequently crashed in an open area near Hîrbovăț and exploded.
Police and National Army teams were deployed to the site to investigate the circumstances of the incident, while Moldova’s Air Operations Service continued monitoring the country’s airspace.
