Moldovan Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu has not ruled out the expulsion of Russia’s ambassador-designate to Moldova, Oleg Ozerov, following a series of drone incidents in Moldovan airspace this week.

Speaking about possible further measures, Grosu said that “everything is possible.” He also referred to comments by the Russian diplomat, who, according to the speaker, did not rule out the possibility that some of the drones entering Moldovan airspace could be Russian.

“Everything is possible. Everything is possible. He has already let slip an expression in which he admitted that they could be their little birds. He only forgot to apologize. That is very ugly and reeks of this kind of imperialism – excuse me, I cannot think of another word – and it is insolent,” Grosu said.

On September 30, at least three drones violated Moldova’s airspace, with two of them crashing and exploding on the ground.

According to Moldovan Defence Minister Anatolie Nosatii, the drones were jet-powered and had a speed of around 400 kilometers per hour.

Following the incidents, Moldova’s Foreign Ministry summoned Russian Ambassador Oleg Ozerov and handed him a formal note of protest.

The Moldovan authorities have not announced a final decision on whether additional diplomatic measures, including the possible expulsion of the Russian diplomat, will be taken.
