Igor Grosu Marks 107 Years Since Bessarabia’s Union with Romania

At the start of today’s parliamentary plenary session, Speaker Igor Grosu congratulated citizens on the 107th anniversary of the Union of Bessarabia with Romania.

“We celebrate our shared culture and history,” he stated.

Grosu also highlighted that today is World Theatre Day.

“National theatres from Bucharest and Iasi are touring Chisinau with three performances. To honor this occasion, we are hosting members of the Committee for Culture and Media from the Romanian Senate at Parliament,” he added.

On March 27, 1918, the Sfatul Tarii in Chisinau voted for the union, setting the stage for the Great Union, culminating in Alba Iulia on December 1, 1918.

Authorities will inaugurate a monument to Queen Maria in the courtyard of Gheorghe Asachi High School in Chisinau to commemorate the anniversary.
