President of the Parliament, Igor Grosu, met with representatives of the Moldovan community in Budapest to discuss the current situation in the Republic of Moldova.
“We talked about what we have achieved together so far, and about the steps ahead. They see the future of the Republic of Moldova in the European Union. The road is long, but together we will succeed,” stated the head of the legislature.
Over the years, the Moldovan community in Hungary has successfully formed the Moldovan Association and the Students’ Association—organizations that actively promote our traditions and culture, from Martisor and folklore to authentic Moldovan cuisine and more.
“Our Moldovans work and study here, but they return home whenever possible, because their longing and love for the country remain strong. A wonderful example of involvement is Veronica Grigoras. Although she has lived abroad for many years, her heart beats for her native village, Ciuciulea, in the Glodeni district. Many know her as Maria from the film The Wooden Cannon or as an active woman dedicated to her community. Like everyone at the meeting, Veronica sees Moldova’s future in the European Union,” Igor Grosu emphasized.

He also urged Moldovans holding Romanian citizenship to participate in the upcoming presidential elections in Romania.
“It’s crucial that we preserve the European path in Moldova and Romania and, most importantly, protect our vote. The road is long, but together we will succeed,” concluded the official.
Grosu participated in the Conference of Speakers of the European Union Parliaments, held in Budapest from May 11 to 12. The event brought together the speakers of the EU parliaments, the President of the European Parliament, and the heads of parliaments from EU candidate countries.
