The country’s president Maia Sandu started the bilateral meetings with the European leaders, who arrived today in Chisinau.
On May 31 evening, Maia Sandu talked with the President of the Swiss Confederation, Alain Berset.
“Moldova has excellent cooperation with Switzerland, and we want to capitalize on the new opportunities in trade cooperation once our country will sign the Agreement on the European Free Trade Area EFTA on June 27, current. The Swiss partners, with various programs, have been contributing to the transformation of the Republic of Moldova for many years. With their support, we modernize our localities and infrastructure and improve our services in the education and health sectors”, said Maia Sandu.

Later, Maia Sandu met with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and discussed gas imports at an affordable price.
“Last year, the Republic of Moldova stepped up cooperation with Azerbaijan in the energy, agricultural and economic fields. One of our priorities is to strengthen energy security. We look forward to a strategic partnership with Azerbaijan in the energy sector to import natural gas at an affordable price,” Sandu said.
