IPN News Agency announces the appointment of journalist Denis Dermenji as director

IPN News Agency announces the appointment of Mr. Denis Dermenji as Director. This decision comes from the public expression of the will to modernize and develop the Agency, an exemplary media institution, a benchmark of journalistic independence and fairness with a 20-year history.

Denis Dermenji is a journalist from the Republic of Moldova. Denis previously worked at Moldova 1, Jurnal TV, Newsmaker, and Europa Libera Moldova. Denis graduated from the Faculty of Journalism and Communication Sciences at the USM and attended the War Journalism course in Ankara, organized by Anadolu Ajansı and the Turkish National Police Academy. As a journalist, Denis has written on security issues, the Transnistrian conflict, and the settlement process, made written and video reports from the Kyiv region during Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, and produced an author’s program dedicated to fighting fake news and disinformation. At Europa Libera Moldova, he published several resonant investigations, so in January 2023, the Russian Foreign Ministry included him on the list of persons banned from entering the Russian Federation.

Denis Dermenji

First of all, I would like to thank you for this proposal, which, I admit, surprised me. I believe it is a unique opportunity to contribute to increasing the quality of journalism in the Republic of Moldova by developing the IPN Agency and turning it into a modern media institution. I enjoyed meeting the IPN team and discussing the institution and the needs of the Moldovan information environment. We will focus our efforts on accelerating all the modernization processes of IPN, thus contributing to maintaining the cleanest possible information space. I hope we will soon be able to complete the editorial team and modernize the Agency. So, we will offer subscribers new products and increase the number of partnerships. Soon, we will have many developments that will reposition the IPN Agency in the Moldovan media market. I am glad that Mr. Valeriu Vasilica will remain a member of the team and will contribute with all his experience to support top-class journalism. We will further strengthen the editorial policy of the IPN Agency, which is a fundamental pillar of freedom of expression and opinion, an open platform for all who need to inform themselves and communicate publicly. As a standard of journalistic independence and fairness, IPN will become a model of media development.

IPN is an independent news agency founded in 2005. IPN’s mission is to provide our readers with accurate, relevant, and timely news. In this process, we focus on the diversity and pluralism of information sources, the obligatory balance of official and alternative points of view, and the analytical character of a significant part of the news product. IPN produces news in three languages: Romanian, Russian, and English.
