Israeli authorities have allowed the import of tomatoes from the Republic of Moldova, reports the National Agency for Food Safety. Moldovan farmers, however, have to take into account several rigors to sell them.
The tomatoes will have to be grown in our country or in a country that doesn’t have the Bactrocera dorsalis pest and are grown in a region with physical protection from Colorado beetles.
Inspectors will examine the vegetables before export. They will ensure that vegetables are free of Colorado beetles. Transportation will exclude leaves, stems, and plant debris.

A Phytosanitary Certificate will accompany the consignments, confirming compliance with the requirements, and the Israeli economic operator receiving the consignment will obtain an import permit.
