It drove Moscow to hysterics: PAS deputy about 30 thousand euro prize for Maia Sandu

The award “Timisoara for European Values” given to President Maia Sandu, for which 30,000 euros are due, has driven Moscow to hysterics, PAS deputy Dorian Istratii believes. This is because the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, qualified this gesture as recognition of “Romanian hybrid colonization.”

According to PAS deputy Dorian Istratii, such a reaction of the Kremlin is nothing but a banal attempt to divert citizens’ attention from several successes recorded by the government in the EU accession process, jurnal.md reports.

“In this situation, because of this award and generally what followed it, it is a distraction from Moldova’s successes because the start of accession negotiations is a very important step and, by and large, to a large extent, this step is also conditioned by Moldovan President Maia Sandu. And this is why they are trying to divert attention from these successes,” the MP said.

Dorian Istratii added that every small step, more or less significant, made by Moldova on its way to the European Union provokes Moscow to sarcasm against Chisinau.

“With every step, Moldova takes towards the European Union, the Russian Federation tries in one way or another to hit Moldova and prove that our country has chosen the wrong path, discrediting every action of the government of Moldova in this context”, he concluded.
