Japan will continue to support the country’s economic development: Minister Munteanu met with Ambassador Takeuchi

Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu met with the new Ambassador of Japan to the Republic of Moldova, Kazuyuki Takeuchi, and congratulated him on assuming his mandate. The two officials highlighted the friendly relations between their countries and explored opportunities to expand Moldovan Japanese cooperation.

The Prime Minister emphasized that Japan remains an important partner for the Republic of Moldova and provides consistent support through projects that modernize healthcare, education, agriculture, infrastructure, the energy sector, and institutional capacities.

Ambassador Kazuyuki Takeuchi reaffirmed Japan’s commitment to supporting Moldova’s economic development and highlighted the interest of Japanese companies in investing in the country.

The officials also discussed the benefits of Moldova’s participation in the World Expo in Osaka last year and identified new opportunities to promote the country. In 2025, bilateral trade between Moldova and Japan exceeded 117 million US dollars, increasing by 14 percent compared to 2024.
