Repair works on the Isaccea–Vulcanesti power line will cost between 500,000 and 2 million lei, according to Energy Minister Dorin Junghietu, who described the figure as a preliminary estimate.

Authorities in Chisinau are still waiting for the final invoice, and the minister said they will reassess costs once all aspects of the works are fully integrated.

“We do not have exact figures. Between 500,000 and 2 million lei. But again, this is a rough estimate. When the invoice arrives, we will make the figures public. It is a preliminary estimate based on the materials and equipment used,” Junghietu explained.

He did not rule out changes in the final amount, stressing that current calculations remain provisional. Ukrainian officials continue to monitor the situation daily, including the functioning of the power line.

The Republic of Moldova has assumed the repair costs, even though Ukrainian specialists carried out the works on Ukrainian territory.

Russian attacks on energy infrastructure in Ukraine damaged the system and caused the disconnection of the line. Following the incident, Moldova declared a state of emergency in the energy sector on March 25 for a period of 60 days.
