President Maia Sandu congratulated Ursula von der Leyen on re-electing today to head the European Commission for a five-year term.
“In these difficult times, your leadership is vital for a stronger Europe. I am confident in our continued cooperation and look forward to moving closer to Moldova’s goal of joining the European Union,” Maia Sandu emphasized in a social media post.
Prime Minister Dorin Recean also sent a congratulatory message to Ursula von der Leyen.

The European Parliament voted today in favor of the proposal to make Ursula von der Leyen the President of the European Commission for another five years.
Ursula von der Leyen received 401 votes in a secret ballot.
