Maia Sandu Condemns Russian Missile Attack That Killed 18, Including 9 Children, in Kryvyi Rih

A Russian missile strike on April 4 devastated a residential street in Kryvyi Rih, central Ukraine, killing 18 people, including nine children, and injuring over 50 others, according to local authorities. It is one of the deadliest attacks Ukraine has witnessed in recent weeks.

In response, Moldovan President Maia Sandu condemned the assault and emphasized the broader threat posed by Russia’s ongoing aggression.

“Another horrific Russian missile strike on Ukraine. A peaceful neighbourhood in Kryvyi Rih shattered by terror. Children among the victims. Russia does not want peace—its missiles make that clear. Only determined international action can stop Russia and bring this war to an end,” Sandu stated.

President Sandu’s remarks come amid daily Russian attacks on Ukrainian territory, which continue to inflict casualties and destruction. Her message reinforced Moldova’s pro-peace stance and solidarity with Ukraine as the war enters its third year.

Local authorities in Kryvyi Rih reported that residential homes were directly hit in the strike, describing the damage as total destruction” along an entire street. Rescue operations continued into the evening as emergency teams searched for survivors under the rubble.
