Moldovan President Maia Sandu has sent children a new message at the end of summer, reminding them about the reading challenge she launched on June 1, International Children’s Day.

“Do you remember the challenge I gave you at the beginning of summer? I encouraged you to put your phones and tablets aside from time to time, open a book and set off on a journey of imagination,” Sandu wrote.

The president invited children to tell her about the books they read during the summer.

“Summer is coming to an end, and I am very curious to find out where your books have taken you over these months. What did you read? Which character did you like the most? What story made you laugh, dream or discover something new?” Sandu said.

Children who take part in the challenge will be invited to the Presidential Administration in early September for a discussion about the books and stories that accompanied them during their summer holidays.

Sandu launched the reading challenge on June 1, encouraging children to set aside at least 30 minutes a day for reading.
