President Maia Sandu engaged in a meeting today with a gathering of journalists, civil society experts, and opinion leaders, all of whom responded to the invitation for a discussion on the referendum concerning Moldova’s accession to the European Union, as reported by the presidential press service.
This meeting marked the inaugural session in a series of consultations scheduled for the upcoming period. The subsequent discussions will encompass representatives from local communities, the private sector, civil society, opinion leaders, journalists, individuals from various sectors of the economy, and figures from social and cultural life, as well as members of political parties.

President Maia Sandu, the driving force behind the referendum on Moldova’s potential accession to the European Union, aims to provide citizens with a platform to articulate their preferences for the country’s future. “Moldova stands at a pivotal juncture, with European Union countries having already voted in favor of initiating negotiations for our country’s accession to the EU. Now, it is the citizens’ turn to voice their desire for progress, to construct a genuinely European nation where peace, stability, and prosperity prevail,” emphasized the head of state.
