During her visit to the United Kingdom, President Maia Sandu met with Moldovan citizens living in Northampton, home to one of the country’s largest and most active Moldovan communities.
The President praised their contribution, emphasizing that Moldovans abroad carry the spirit of the country with them through hard work and dignity.
“I was delighted to meet our Moldovans in Northampton again and thank them for everything they do. Through work and dignity, they bring Moldova with them to Europe,” said President Sandu.
She spoke with citizens about the recent developments in the Republic of Moldova and how to stay connected, even from afar.

“We gathered to talk about Moldova, the changes at home, and how we can maintain contact, even while living abroad,” the President noted.
President Sandu also shared important news: starting August 1, Moldovan citizens residing in the UK will be able to exchange their Moldovan driving licenses without taking additional exams.
“I brought good news: we’ve reached an agreement with the British government—starting August 1, Moldovans who have been living in the UK for up to five years will be able to exchange their driving licenses without exams,” she announced.
President Maia Sandu visited the United Kingdom on July 23–24. During the trip, she had an audience with His Majesty King Charles III and met with several senior British officials.
