The head of state met on July 19 with Pavel Grod, chairman of the World Congress of Ukrainians, which represents the interests of more than 20 million Ukrainians in the diaspora, the press service of the head of state reports.
The discussions focused on the war in the neighboring country, regional stability, and Moldova’s role in supporting the Ukrainians who have taken refuge in the Republic of Moldova.
Our country remains committed to supporting refugees from Ukraine. Moldova offers them temporary protection on the model of the European Union, which provides employment, access to health care and social assistance, and the integration of Ukrainian children into the education system. The interlocutors also discussed the importance of involving the Moldavian and Ukrainian diasporas in the development of the two countries by attracting talent, investments and mobilizing political support in the host countries.
In conclusion, Maia Sandu confirmed that our country will continue close cooperation with Ukraine on the common path of joining the European Union.
