Maia Sandu: “Moldova can count on the Czech Republic, just as the Czech Republic could count on its friends 20 years ago”

Maia Sandu hosted the President of the Czech Republic, Petr Pavel, on Thursday, March 20, during his first official visit to Chisinau. The meeting highlights the increasingly close ties between the Republic of Moldova and the Czech Republic, two friendly countries united by shared values and the desire to build a better future in peace and security for their citizens.

“We discussed the concrete support that the Czech Republic provides to Moldova: the modernization of water supply systems, the improvement of elderly care, support for farmers, and much more. Along with other countries, the Czech Republic has offered financial assistance for the compensation granted to our citizens in the context of rising energy prices,” said President Maia Sandu.

The head of state thanked President Petr Pavel for the Czech Republic’s strong support, including for Moldova’s European path. President Sandu noted that the Czech Republic is an example for Moldova, as it took this historic step 20 years ago by joining the European Union and today enjoys a strong economy, modern infrastructure, well-paid jobs, and a high standard of living for its citizens.
