President Maia Sandu says Prime Minister Vasile Tofan is “a very energetic person” and believes the Government needs public support to achieve its objectives. The statements were made during the “Jurnal Politic” podcast.
“The Prime Minister is a very energetic person, and this is very important because there are many challenges, both immediate and systemic ones that we want to address. The development plans are large and ambitious, and they require a lot of energy,” Maia Sandu said.
The President noted that the Government has faced difficulties since the first days in office but praised the way the Cabinet has handled the situation.
“Unfortunately, crises started from the very first day, but I believe the Government is managing well, and I have confidence that things will continue to move forward in the same direction,” Sandu said.
The head of state also urged citizens to support the Government and avoid being influenced by unverified information.
“I believe that all of us need to help the Government if we want it to succeed. (…) We should not allow ourselves to be manipulated by breaking news and dramatic headlines. We need to be patient, inform ourselves, read information coming from credible sources, including official authorities, and avoid spreading false information,” Maia Sandu said.
She stressed that frequent changes of ministers would not bring better results and emphasized the importance of stability to complete ongoing projects.
“It is not right to believe that if we change ministers every six months, the results will be good. They will not. We need stability so that the programs and projects we are talking about, which have already started, can be completed,” the President added.
The Government led by Vasile Tofan was sworn in on July 22 after receiving a vote of confidence from Parliament and presenting its governing program titled “European Economy, Efficient State.”
