The Republic of Moldova proves that a country can break free from Russia’s sphere of influence and can continue to rely on Poland’s support along this path, Polish President Karol Nawrocki said during a joint press conference with President Maia Sandu, who is on an official visit to Warsaw.
“I believe that today, before our very eyes, Moldova is becoming an example for many countries around the world of how one can exit Russia’s sphere of influence,” Nawrocki said. He added that Poland has consistently supported Moldova for years across many areas of intergovernmental cooperation. “The Republic of Moldova is clear proof that it is possible to leave Russia’s sphere of influence. Moldova can count on Poland’s support,” the Polish president stated.
The two heads of state discussed Moldova’s European path and cooperation in security and defense, including the expansion of collaboration between relevant institutions. Maia Sandu said the authorities are currently preparing approval of an agreement in this area.
President Nawrocki also addressed economic cooperation and announced that Poland will organize missions to the Republic of Moldova. One mission will focus on investments and trade, while another will concentrate on education, historical memory, and institutional cooperation.
