The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration commented on the statements of Maria Zakharova regarding the reduction of Russian diplomats in the country.
“In relations with external partners, the authorities of the Republic of Moldova act based on the national interests of our country. It is known that Moldovan-Russian relations have suffered significantly as a result of the military aggression launched by the Russian Federation against Ukraine and all its negative consequences, including for the Republic of Moldova. The Moldovan authorities remain determined to resist the destabilizing actions of the Russian Federation directed against our country,” the MFAEI said in a press release.
Recall that the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry said, in response to the possible expulsion of Russian diplomats, that the number of employees of the Russian Embassy in Moldova is justified since Moscow is interested in developing ties with the people of the republic.
According to the Russian official, the authors of the initiative to reduce the staff of the Russian Embassy in Chisinau cannot fail to understand that in this case, the possibilities of providing consular and other assistance, including to Moldovan citizens, will be objectively reduced.
Moreover, the representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry accused the Moldovan authorities of observing “double standards” and urged them to stop acting in favor of the “collective West.”
