Starting March 2, companies in the Republic of Moldova can use the MIA Instant Payments system to carry out instant transfers between legal entities (Business to Business – B2B) through internet and mobile banking channels provided by payment service providers. The National Bank of Moldova (BNM) made the announcement.

According to the BNM, the new option marks an important step in modernizing the national payments infrastructure and supporting the business environment. The B2B functionality complements the services already available within MIA, including instant transfers between individuals, business payments, and public service payments.

Companies can now initiate and receive transfers in Moldovan lei around the clock, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, including outside the working hours of payment service providers. The system settles transactions in real time, within just a few seconds.

The BNM emphasizes that instant B2B transfers improve liquidity management and allow businesses to conduct commercial operations without delays. Companies can use the new option to pay invoices, make advance payments, release deliveries, or carry out other transactions within commercial relationships.

The applied commission amounts to 0.7% of the transfer value but does not exceed 40 lei per transaction, which, according to the central bank, ensures clear and predictable costs for companies.

“In a dynamic economic environment, MIA is a business accelerator and one of the most visible transformations of recent years, with a direct impact on how people manage their finances, on the operational efficiency of companies, and on the relationship between public institutions and citizens,” said the BNM Governor Anca Dragu.

The National Bank of Moldova developed the MIA Instant Payments system as part of a broader process of payment digitalization and alignment with European standards, aiming to increase the speed, security, and accessibility of financial transactions in the national economy.
