“We strongly condemn any form of violence.” It was the message sent by Foreign Minister Mihai Popsoi after the terrorist attack in the Israeli city of Jaffa on the evening of Tuesday, October 1. Also, the same evening, Iran launched a massive rocket attack on Israel.
“We are appalled by the horrific terrorist attack that took the lives of innocent Israelis in Yaffo. We strongly condemn all forms of violence. We wish those injured a speedy recovery. We also condemn the recent Iranian rocket attack. Israel has the right to self-defense,” Mihai Popsoi wrote.
Following the events in Israel on Tuesday evening, October 1, 2024, there are no Moldovan citizens among the victims, Foreign Minister Mihai Popsoi confirms.
Popsoi stated that authorities have received two requests for Moldovan citizens’ evacuation and will make every effort to support them.
Recall that on Tuesday, October 1, Iran launched a massive rocket attack on Israel. Preliminary estimates put the number at around 500 rockets. People took shelter in their homes, and a flight from Chisinau to Tel Aviv, due to take off, was canceled.
Several terrorist attacks have occurred in Tel Aviv. In one incident in Jaffa, a suburb of the capital, two gunmen exited a light rail train and opened fire on passersby. The attack left at least three people dead and seven others injured.
In another part of the city, a local man was reportedly attacked with a knife and injured. Another incident reportedly took place in a synagogue, where at least four people were seriously injured. The press reports that authorities have declared a state of alert in Tel Aviv, placing the city under quarantine.
