Minister Popsoi discussed developments in the Middle East with his counterpart from the UAE

Mihai Popsoi, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Moldova, held a phone conversation with his counterpart from the United Arab Emirates, Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The officials discussed recent developments in the Middle East, including missile attacks launched by Iran against the United Arab Emirates and other states in the region, as well as their impact on regional security and stability.

They noted that the situation prompted authorities to temporarily close the airspace, affecting the travel of foreign citizens, including Moldovan nationals currently in the United Arab Emirates.

The Emirati minister thanked the Republic of Moldova for its solidarity and firm position in support of maintaining regional stability and stressed the importance of regional and international efforts to prevent further escalation. Mihai Popsoi focused in particular on the situation of Moldovan citizens in the United Arab Emirates.

The Emirati side expressed its readiness to provide full support to ensure their safety and to help manage the situation amid temporary air transport restrictions. At the end of the conversation, the two ministers reaffirmed their interest in continuing dialogue and strengthening bilateral cooperation between the Republic of Moldova and the United Arab Emirates, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Moldova said in a statement.
