Today, July 5, Environment Minister Sergiu Lazarencu announced the launch of a fundraising campaign in cooperation with McDonald’s. They will use the funds to plant trees in Moldova.
“Our country has the lowest level of afforestation in the region, and climate change affects us more and more every year, from droughts that dry up rivers and wells and destroy crops to hurricanes and heavy rains. Increasing the area of forests under the National Forest Expansion Program will help us restore the water level in rivers, improve air and soil quality, and preserve biodiversity,” Lazarencu wrote on his Facebook page.
The Minister also called on all economic agents to join this campaign to “make Moldova greener and cleaner.”
