Moldova and Hungary Renew Academic Mobility Agreement under Stipendium Hungaricum Programme

Moldovan students will continue receiving scholarships from the Hungarian government through the Stipendium Hungaricum programme for the 2026–2028 period. The government approved negotiations and the signing of a new Memorandum of Understanding between Moldova’s Ministry of Education and Research and Hungary’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade.

This new Memorandum replaces the 2022 agreement and marks the fifth edition of the programme, launched in 2014. Its aim is to promote academic mobility, allowing Moldovan students to pursue bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral studies in Hungary via scholarships administered by the Tempus Public Foundation.

Minister of Education and Research Dan Perciun noted:

“Hungary traditionally provides Moldova with 40 scholarship places for our students, and these opportunities will continue under this agreement until 2029.”

Currently, Hungary offers 40 scholarships annually to Moldovan citizens across all higher education cycles. Eligible study fields include agriculture, engineering, exact sciences, information technologies, and political sciences.

The Memorandum also establishes a programme for graduates to track their professional paths and build an alumni network, further strengthening ties between Moldovan students and the Hungarian academic system.
