Moldova and Lithuania signed Intergovernmental Agreements on the exchange and mutual protection of classified information and technical and financial cooperation. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Mihai Popsoi, with his Lithuanian counterpart Gabrielius Landsbergis, signed Intergovernmental Agreements in Vilnius.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, these agreements will facilitate the exchange of classified information and enhance communication between state institutions in the social and economic sectors.

“During the meeting, we exchanged views on ways to boost bilateral cooperation and trade-economic exchanges, the security situation in the region in the context of the war against Ukraine, and cooperation in international organizations. Lithuania is a close partner of our country in promoting democracy, European integration, and the fight against hybrid threats, for which we are very grateful,” said Popsoi.

Gabrielius Landsbergis reiterated Lithuania’s support for Moldova’s reform agenda and the opening of accession negotiations with the European Union.

The two officials also discussed the possibility of holding the next round of political consultations between foreign ministers before the end of the year.

Popsoi is on a working visit to Lithuania today at the invitation of Gabrielius Landsbergis.
