Moldova and Romania Will Collaborate to Attract EU Infrastructure Funds

The Republic of Moldova and Romania will collaborate to access and jointly leverage European funds for infrastructure development. IPN reports that Vice Prime Minister Vladimir Bolea, Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development, and Dragos-Nicolae Pislaru, Romania’s Minister of Investments and European Projects, signed the joint declaration establishing the bilateral cooperation framework in Chisinau.

They will launch strategic projects, advance Moldova’s EU integration, and modernize infrastructure using EU funds.

“This exchange of experience is pivotal because we’re discussing issues we’ve already gone through and can truly share, ensuring we create the best possible opportunities for using funds not just quantitatively, but qualitatively in the Republic of Moldova,” Dragos-Nicolae Pislaru said during a press conference held in Chisinau.

Romania’s Minister of Investments and European Projects emphasized that this joint declaration comes on a day of special significance for Romania and the Republic of Moldova, as Brussels will launch the first framework document regarding the new regulations for the 2028–2035 Multiannual Financial Framework today.

Vice Prime Minister Vladimir Bolea, Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development, noted that this agreement represents close cooperation between the two states and that the partnership between the Republic of Moldova and Romania is more than mere neighborhood—it’s a relationship built on trust and a shared European vision.

“The declaration we signed today lays the foundation for a new stage in our collaboration—more practical and more efficient, so that European funds turn into better roads, schools, services, and jobs for our citizens. The Government of the Republic of Moldova remains firmly committed to continuing reforms and delivering the benefits of European integration to the people, with Romania by our side as a strategic partner,” Vice Prime Minister Vladimir Bolea said.

They’ll form a bilateral working group to coordinate commitments and host training and experience exchanges. Romania will also provide technical support in aligning Moldovan legislation with European standards and in developing shared management programs for EU funds.
