Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration Cristina Gherasimov and Spain’s Secretary of State for European Affairs Fernando Mariano Sampedro Marcos discussed the progress of European Union accession negotiations and the next steps for the Republic of Moldova during his visit to Chisinau.
Cristina Gherasimov emphasized that Spain remains an important partner in the integration process.
“Spain is a country with high living standards, modern infrastructure, and a developed economy. For almost four decades, it has been an EU member state, and its citizens enjoy safety, sustainable investments, and numerous opportunities. I was pleased to discuss today in Chisinau with Fernando Mariano Sampedro Marcos the developments in the EU accession negotiation process, the current situation, and the steps we will undertake,” she said.
The Deputy Prime Minister thanked Spain for showing solidarity with the Republic of Moldova and for supporting its European path.
“Spain is a second home for tens of thousands of our citizens, and it strongly supports the European path of the Republic of Moldova,” she stated.
Both sides agreed to continue their dialogue and cooperation, especially on areas that accelerate Moldova’s integration into the European Union.
