Moldova and Turkey have reached the volume of $1 billion in mutual trade, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Nicu Popescu told Radio Moldova, emphasizing the importance for Moldova’s economic agents to diversify markets for Moldovan goods and develop Asian markets.
“Countries such as India, Egypt, most of the Middle East countries, and Africa are major importers of food products, and it is often easier for us to sell certain products on these markets. Transportation through Giurgiulesti and then by the Black Sea to Egypt does not take much time,” he said.
The deputy prime minister described as “excellent” the economic partnership with Turkey, saying that there is no reason why Chisinau’s relations with Ankara could not have similar goals.
He believes that Moldova could have similar volumes of joint trade with countries such as India, Egypt, Jordan, and Israel.
