Moldova and Ukraine will have seven more common border checkpoints

Prime Minister Dorin Recean and his Ukrainian counterpart Denys Shmygal participated in the signing ceremony of inter-ministerial protocols on the organization of joint control at seven checkpoints on the Moldovan-Ukrainian state border via videoconference. Thus, Moldova and Ukraine reiterated their mutual support for the integration agenda of both states into the European Union and the intensification of trade-economic, social, and political cooperation between the two states.

“This is a common victory and our commitment is to advance together on the EU integration path. Today’s signing of protocols on the establishment of common control points of the Moldovan-Ukrainian border crossing is an important step towards EU accession,” Recean said in a conversation with his counterpart.

The officials also agreed to promote the bilateral dialog and intensify cooperation in the regional security field.

Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmygal noted the favorable impact on the diversification of bilateral trade and further strengthening of the “Color of Solidarity” towards the European Union. For more than a year, about 1.6 million tons of Ukrainian agricultural products have transited through Moldova.

The leadership of the Customs Service and the General Inspectorate of Border Police attended the event to sign interdepartmental protocols on the organization of joint control at seven border crossing points. The documents refer to the Briceni-Rossoshan, Criva-Mamalyga, Giurgiulesti-Reni, Larga-Kelmentsi, Palanca-Mayaki-Udobnoye, Pervomaysk-Kuchurgani and Platonovo-Novye Goiani checkpoints.
