Moldova received an award for its leadership in hosting refugees. The Wilson Center’s Refugee and Forced Displacement Initiative (RAFDI) presented our country with the Refugee Host Country Leadership Award.
The award recognized the solidarity, humanity, and exemplary generosity that the people of Moldova demonstrated during one of the greatest humanitarian crises in Europe.
Since the start of Russia’s aggressive war against Ukraine, more than 1.4 million people have passed through the country, and approximately 135,000 Ukrainian refugees remain in Moldova.
