Moldova Celebrates 30 Years of Membership in the Council of Europe

Moldova marked 30 years of membership in the Council of Europe by reaffirming its commitment to democracy, human rights, and the rule of law. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs organized an official ceremony to celebrate the anniversary and reflect on the progress achieved through this enduring partnership.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Mihai Popsoi opened the event. He emphasized the Council of Europe’s impact on Moldova’s democratic transformation.

“For three decades, the Council of Europe has helped Moldova build stronger democratic institutions and promote European values,” Popsoi stated. “Our partnership has supported efforts to fight violence against women, corruption, human trafficking, hate speech, and cybercrime. These 30 years represent a journey of cooperation for democracy, freedom, and justice.”
