Today, Moldova celebrates National Culture Day with numerous significant cultural events, including exhibitions, theater and dance performances, poetry and music recitals, film screenings, debates, and workshops promoting literature and art, organized in the capital and across the country.
National Culture Day honors our rich cultural heritage and celebrates the birthday of the great poet Mihai Eminescu, a symbol of Romanian literature and national identity.
Nearly 60 events are organized by institutions under the Ministry of Culture’s jurisdiction, with over 180 more coordinated with local public authorities in villages and cities nationwide. These activities are part of the national campaign “2025 – The Year of Mihai Eminescu,” aimed at increasing cultural access in underserved communities.
The event began with a flower-laying ceremony at Eminescu’s bust on the Alley of Classics in the capital and several localities nationwide. At 3:00 PM, the State Residence will host the 2024 Culture Awards ceremony, traditionally organized by the Ministry of Culture. The contest features 15 nominations and special awards for individuals who have made significant cultural contributions.
