Moldovan officials have criticized the Kremlin’s decision to block Moldovan carriers from entering or transiting Russian territory, calling it an act of political pressure. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Infrastructure Vladimir Bolea stated that this move confirms Russia’s true attitude toward Moldova and reinforces the need to strengthen ties with the European Union.
“Only those who claim to be our friends would not treat us as vassals. This decision clearly shows where our real allies are – in the EU,” Bolea wrote on social media.
The Russian restrictions, imposed this week, prohibit Moldovan companies from delivering goods to Russia and have left Moldovan transporters stranded at the border. The Moldovan government condemned Russia’s unilateral decision, stating that it violates previous agreements and deliberately harms the country’s economy.

According to the government, 115 transporters with licenses and numerous exporters will be affected. Moldova has intensified efforts to diversify exports and strengthen trade routes through the EU, the Caucasus, and Central Asia.
Authorities assured them they would continue defending the interests of Moldovan businesses and seek alternative solutions, including new partnerships with other countries and international organizations.
