Moldova could soon receive the first tranche of 300 million euros from the Growth Plan

The European Commission plans to approve the Agreement for the Growth Plan, with a budget of 1.9 billion euros, in the coming weeks. MEP Siegfried Muresan made this statement for IPN. According to him, the document allows rapid access to pre-financing worth about 300 million euros.

“I feel confident that the European Commission will approve this agreement soon, and the Republic of Moldova will receive the pre-financing before summer, possibly by the end of May or June,” said Muresan, vice president of the EPP Group in the European Parliament.

The plan includes investments in nurseries, kindergartens, hospitals, school modernization, road infrastructure, and structural reforms that strengthen state institutions. Muresan stressed that the Republic of Moldova finalized the document in less than two months, showing a quick and coordinated reaction from the authorities.

“We passed the hardest part. The European Parliament adopted the law with broad support and under favorable conditions for the Republic of Moldova. The European Commission values this plan, and everything moves forward quickly and efficiently,” Muresan added.

During an official visit to Moldova last week, together with European Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos and MEP Dan Barna, Siegfried Muresan welcomed the Republic of Moldova’s progress on its European path. He recalled that Chisinau submitted its application for EU membership in just a few years, gained candidate status, and will begin accession negotiations with the first chapters in the coming months.

“The European Union remains determined to bring the Republic of Moldova into its ranks as a full member state. If the pro-European government continues its efforts, I strongly believe Moldova will complete all accession stages within the next four years,” concluded the Romanian MEP.

Officials signed the Agreement for the Growth Plan in Chisinau on Friday, with a budget of 1.9 billion euros. The document shows the EU’s commitment to support the Republic of Moldova in modernizing state structures and aligning them with European standards. Prime Minister Dorin Recean and European Commissioner Marta Kos signed the agreement on May 9.
