The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) participated in the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly’s winter session in Vienna. The event examined how new technologies and social networks impact electoral processes, including their effects on the Republic of Moldova.
During the debates, parliamentarians discussed how algorithmic news filtering on social platforms affects media pluralism, freedom of expression, and citizens’ access to diverse political messages. They also raised concerns about the use of deepfakes and AI-generated content in online election campaigns, according to the MFA.
“The key takeaway from the meeting was that online electoral promotion has become an essential part of democratic processes, creating challenges and opportunities. OSCE member states must work together to adapt regulations to new technologies while protecting electoral integrity and upholding fundamental rights and freedoms,” the MFA emphasized.
