Moldova Expands “European Court” Program Budget After Record 502 Project Submissions

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development Vladimir Bolea announced today that 502 projects were submitted by the 9 May deadline for the “European Court” program, far surpassing initial expectations.

During a press conference, Bolea confirmed that the government will increase the program’s budget from 100 million to 250 million lei, while maintaining the maximum funding per project at 5 million lei.

“Last week, we discussed the need to supplement the fund due to the high number of applications. I’m announcing today that the budget has been raised to 250 million lei. This reflects the real needs of the people and our commitment to making EU integration a tangible, local experience—not just about highways, but about real changes in citizens’ lives,” said Bolea.

The European Court program aims to rehabilitate and modernize block courtyards in Chisinau with works including:

  • Repair of access roads and stairs
  • Installation of modern street lighting
  • Construction of parking areas and playgrounds
  • Urban furniture and access ramps

The government is supporting infrastructure development and urban community-building projects for the first time. “People should shape these projects to ensure they truly serve their needs,” Bolea emphasized.

The EU and the Budget +PLUS program launched the initiative in early April to encourage civic involvement and revitalize shared spaces. It will improve urban quality of life.
